Infinite Photonics signs $12M laser diode contract with DARPA

Infinite Photonics Inc., a subsidiary of Infinite Group Inc., has entered into a $12 million contract with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for the R&D of proprietary grating coupled surface emitting laser (IPI GCSEL) diode technology. The contract is expected to be completed by the end of next year.

"We will produce pump and source laser diodes, as well as grating coupled semiconductor optical amplifiers (GCSOA)", stated Jeff Bullington, president of Infinite Photonics. "The program will allow Infinite Photonics to develop and commercialize single-mode devices specific to DARPA's goals for high power, high repetition rates, and high beam quality," he adds.
