Motorola, CMCC cooperate on 3G research for China market

Motorola and China Mobile Communications Corp. (CMCC) have cooperated to begin a 3G business service dimensioning research project in China. Under the agreement, both companies will jointly study possible services and their characteristics on China's future 3G networks. The research will focus on finding cost-effective network solutions for the China market and will study the relationship between service behaviors and the related network resource consumption.

The major areas of research include 3G applications, service behavior patterns and wireless network resource consumption.

"The development of 3G technology in China is expected to have a significant impact on the economy and telecommunications industry in China," said Ruey Bin Kao, Motorola VP and general manager of Global Telecom Solutions Sector, China Operations.
