TI powers HP Jornada with OMAP processor

HP unveiled at the 3GSM World Congress the HP Jornada 928 full-color wireless digital assistant, which is powered by TI's OMAP 710 processor. The Jornada 928 integrates a phone and personal information management functions, as well as run advanced wireless applications, including enhanced voice, data, and basic multimedia.

Integrated into a TI's TCS2500 GSM/GPRS chipset, the OMAP710 combines a 120MHz ARM9 processor and a GPRS modem to provide wireless data, voice, and multimedia connectivity to the GPRS/GSM-enabled Jornada device. The OMAP is also claimed to prolong the battery life of the device.

Manufactured using 0.18?m SIA CMOS technology, the OMAP710 also incorporates a frame buffer, LCD controller, Class 8 GPRS protocol stack, as well as extends support to USB 1.1. A memory management unit manages 16KB of instruction cache, 8KB of data cache, and 192KB internal SRAM.

TI's OMAP platform is an advanced processing architecture optimized to support wireless devices operating at 2.5 and 3G wireless air interface standards.
