Hitachi Ltd is investing in Magis Networks Inc., a developer of 802.11a wireless chipsets. Magis develops chipsets that enable wireless communications of TCP/IP data, video, and audio throughout the home and office under the Air5 brand name.

Under the terms of the investment, the two companies are developing product roadmaps that will optimize market acceptance of Magis' Air5-based products.

"Hitachi's strategic investment in Magis brings to the company both a significant advocate for our Air5-based products and capital resources to launch those products into the global market," said Clarence Bruckner, president and CEO, Magis. "With Hitachi's support, Magis will move quickly to ensure our chipsets span all elements of 5GHz wireless home and office networks."
