MEN Micro multimeter module cites high-res measurements

MEN Micro's single-wide M-Module features a complete digital multimeter that enables designers to quickly add precise voltage and current measurements to VMEbus, VXI, CompactPCI, and PXI instrumentation applications.

The small size (50-by-150mm) of the M-Module mezzanine card, along with its wide range of I/O capabilities, gives designers the ability to configure specific I/O options without the need for a custom design. Four M-Modules can be mounted on a double Eurocard (6U) and two can be mounted on a single Eurocard form factor.

The company's executives said that the unit provides high-resolution measurement for dc and ac voltage or current.

"The user can select from 20 measuring ranges, including three ranges to measure resistance through a two-wire or four-wire connection," said Ernest Godsey, president of MEN Micro. "It's a very versatile DMM module for instrumentation applications."

MEN Micro said the module, known as the M76, is suitable for instrumentation roles based on a variety of bus structures. They include VMEbus, VXI, CompactPCI, PXI, or desktop PCI applications.

The module operates with an accuracy of 0.01 percent on dc measurements and has a resolution of 6.5 digits. It is based on a 24-bit sigma-delta ADC with an on-chip notch filter. Sampling and filtering frequencies between 10Hz and 1kHz support various resolutions, such as 10Hz at 22.5 bits of resolution or 1kHz with 11bits of resolution.

Additional functionality, such as autoranging, auto-calibration, and limit testing can be implemented through software.

A large number of drivers are available for the module, including those for Windows NT, VxWorks, OS-9, QNX, and Linux, all of which can be downloaded for free from the MEN Micro website.

Pricing starts at $1,076 for single units.
