TI invests in China's newly formed 3G wireless R&D company

Texas Instruments China Inc. has invested in a newly formed technology solutions company, COMMIT Inc. The new company is China's first joint stock limited company with a focus on the needs of 3G multimedia terminal solutions in China.

COMMIT is expected to design and develop future wireless devices, such as TD-SCDMA standard wireless handsets, based on TI's OMAP application processors and wireless modems.

The new company is supported by 17 companies including core promoters, such as TI, China PTIC Information Ind. Corp., China Academy of Telecommunications Technology (CATT), Nokia (China) Investment Co. Ltd, and LG Electronics Inc.
