Zarlink parallel fiber modules features 30Gbps data rate

The MFT62340A-J transmitter and MFR62340A-J receiver 12-channel parallel fiber modules offer a channel data rate of 155Mbps to 2.5Gbps, for an aggregate bandwidth of 30Gbps.

Designed for VSR interconnect applications such as terabit routers, switches and cross- connects, digital video transmissions, and transponders, the modules utilize 850nm oxide vertical cavity surface emitting lasers and PIN diode receivers, with the company's self-alignment technology for coupling light to the fiber array.

Parallel fiber modules are being used in VSR connections to replace copper and single-mode, single-channel fiber-optic links to realize the full capabilities of multi-terabit equipment.

The modules have been tested to provide a data rate of 155Mbps at 800m, 1.25Gbps at 400m, and 2.5Gbps at 100m. They have a channel BER of 10 to 12 when used as a pair, and supports different data rates operating simultaneously in the same link.

The modules are supplied in a 50-pin J-lead DIP housing with standard MPO/MTP multi-mode fiber connectors.

Pricing starts at $1,100 per transmitter/receiver link. A full evaluation kit, the MFEK6001-TC, including evaluation boards and a 10m test fiber, is available for $2,400.
