"We are working to remove limits on current storage technologies. Vanguard Systems perform with any OS that supports SCSI storage and at a price that competes well with other, lesser featured RAID technologies," explains FirewireDirect CTO Daniel Jackson.
The device features a RISC processor and a hardware RAID controller with 256MB of cache. It supports RAID 0 (striping), 1 (mirroring), 0+1, 3 and 5, and in levels 3 and 5, can employ a hot spare drive available to automatically restore redundancy.
The RAID system can be installed on any SCSI supporting computer running Windows, Mac OS, Silicon Graphics, Novell, Solaris, and Linux OS, or other systems with basic SCSI driver support.
The Vanguard Ultra measures 173-by-430-by-404mm and operate over the temperature range of 5C to 40C. The desktop device is also available in a 482.6mm rack-mount configuration, and also provides capacities of 600GB and 800GB. |
