Sintek spends $105M for 4G color filter production line

Sintek Photronic Corp. has invested $105.41 million to put up a 4G color-filter production line. The cleanrooms are scheduled to be set up next month while production equipment will be installed in May this year. Mass production is set to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.

Company spokesperson Joe Wu, said, "Initial monthly capacity will be 65,000 units of 680-by-880mm or 730-by-920mm glass substrates for color filters. The products will be use in LCD panels. Sintek will expand capacity next year."

The company is planning to establish a factory in Tainan Science-based Ind. Park (TSIP) later this year or early next year. Wu noted, "The new factory will make 5G 1.1-by-1.25m color filters."
