Claimed to be the first serial EEPROMs to support the VESA E-EDID 1.3 standard for PC monitors, projectors, and flat panel displays, the 24LC22A and 24LCS22A implement the DDC1 and DDC2 operating modes, including DDC1 recovery.

The 256Kword-by-8 bit chips includes a two-wire I?C-compantible serial interface, ESD protection of >4kV, and an operating voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V. The EEPROMs also support the VESA E-EDID monitor specification for next-generation displays.

The 24LCS22A provides an additional software-enabled hardware write protection pin that allows users to write-protect memory content automatically during in-circuit or gang programming.

The 24LCC22A and 24LCS22A are available in 8-pin PDIP or SOIC packages, and are priced at 50 cents and 55 cents, respectively in 10,000-unit quantities.
