Essex, Fiberspace to comarket hyper-DWDM, OPLL techs

Essex Corp. and Fiberspace Inc. have signing of a memorandum of understanding to comarket Essex's hyperfine WDM technology and Fiberspace's Gridlocker laser source, based on the company's patented Optical Phase Locked Loop (OPLL) stabilization technology. Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will integrate marketing efforts for these technologies such as making joint presentations, integrated demonstrations, and writing coauthored technical papers for publication.

"Essex has developed an innovative and low-cost WDM technology," commented Leonardo Berezovsky, chairman and CEO of Fiberspace. "The combination of the Essex hyperfine WDM and the Fiberspace Gridlocker laser source has the potential to create a compelling, low cost, bandwidth expansion path for installed networks." The Gridlocker tunable DFB laser source with accuracy of 1250 MHz will be available for selected customer testing in the second quarter of this year.
