Digital audio amplification developer Apogee Technology Inc. has formed a joint development agreement with STMicroelectronics. Under the agreement, the companies will develop and market semiconductor products that leverage Apogee's Direct Digital Amplification (DDX) technology and ST's IP, semiconductor design, development and manufacturing capability. The joint development agreement complements the DDX technology licensing agreement signed between the companies in February of 2001.

As part of the licensing agreement, the companies have released a 4.1 channel DDX controller and two DDX power devices. The products are suitable for high growth applications, such as DVD receivers.

"This agreement further solidifies our relationship with ST and provides the framework to execute our DDX product development strategy," said David Meyers, Apogee's COO.
