Schott Lithotec buys Dupont photoblanks business

Schott Lithotec USA Corp., a subsidiary of Schott Lithotec AG, has acquired the photoblanks business unit of DuPont Photomasks Inc. The deal was reported to be worth $42 million. As part of the acquisition, Schott Lithotec also gains DuPont Photomasks' photoblank production facility in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Additionally, DuPont Photomasks entered into a long-term supply agreement with Schott Lithotec, to provide continued access to commercial photoblanks. The companies have also formed a strategic alliance to jointly develop advanced photoblanks, the substrates from which photomasks are fabricated.

Peter Kirlin, chairman and CEO of DuPont Photomasks, said, "We will focus on delivering microimaging solutions to our customers through our core business of photomasks, while Schott Lithotec will apply its optical capabilities to the manufacture of photoblanks at the Poughkeepsie facility."
