Pontex constructs LCD backlight factory in Taichung

Pontex Polyblend Co. Ltd has constructed a 6,612-square-foot factory in Taichung, Taiwan, for manufacturing LCD backlights. The company invested $5.73 million for the acquisition of production equipment.

According to company president, Steve Hsu, Pontex manufactures thin-type LCD backlights featuring a thickness of 0.6mm, with a monthly capacity of 300,000 units.

Pontex will export about five to 10 percent of its output to Japan and South Korea. The company estimates a turnover of $17.19 million for LCD backlights this year.
