Force Computers' Centellis CO 3000 embedded server meets Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) Level 3 standards for telecommunications companies' CO.

Powered by Force's CPCI-735 or CPCI-550 SBC, the Centellis CO 3000 offers a Pentium III 700MHz or Sun Microsystems Ultrasparc-IIe processors. The 3U, five-slot, 19-inch rack-mount system features Force's Sentinel "universal-mode" PCI-to-PCI bridge technology for CompactPCI system or peripheral-slot functionality.

An entry-level platform for small-footprint CompactPCI requirements, the system-which is compatible with the H.110 computer telephony bus-offers an embedded Windows 2000/Solaris 8 operating-system solution in a PC-size form factor.

The NEBS Level 3 design also meets the requirements for network firewall security, media servers and gateways, and DSL concentration, the company said.

The design offers ruggedized CO-quality operation for IP over satellite, video-on-demand services, medical diagnostics, graphical user interfaces and other applications.

In addition to giving developers an array of processor and OS options, the Centellis CO 3000 has alarm control and monitoring functionality, as well as dual, independent hot-swappable fan trays.

Entry-level NEBS Level 3 Centellis CO 3000 early-access units will be available in the second quarter, priced starting at $5,900.
