Ansoft signal-integrity tool has full-wave analysis engine

Integrated with a full-wave analysis engine, the SIwave signal-integrity tool from Ansoft Corp. generates both frequency- and time-domain results, and analyzes complex PCBs and IC packages consisting of multiple, arbitrarily shaped power and ground layers and any number of vias and signal traces.

Showcased at the Electronic Design Automation & Test ? China 2002 expo, the SIwave allows designers to characterize simultaneous switching noise, power and ground bounce, resonances, reflections, and coupling between traces and power/ground planes.

The tool also allows engineers to combine their own driver/receiver models with SIwave's SPICE output to obtain accurate SPICE system-level simulations.

"It is imperative that today's high-speed ICs, PCBs, and packages perform as expected," said Dr. Zoltan Cendes, Ansoft's Chairman and CTO "To better understand the physics of their devices, engineers need an accurate analysis tool. With SIwave, they can now optimize the power delivery and signal integrity of their designs in a single pass," he added.

Ansoft Corp. is an exhibitor at the Electronic Design Automation & Test Expo (EDA&T), which is co-located with the 7th annual International IC ? China Conference and Exhibition (IIC-China) and the 2nd Embedded Systems Conferences ? China (ESC-China) in Shanghai on April 8 and 9 and Beijing on April 11 and 12.
