The EL6145C laser diode driver from Elantec Semiconductor Inc. features one 250mA output current write channel that enables it to drive high power 780nm lasers and achieve >32X CD-R speeds.

Pin-compatible with the company's EL6245C driver, the EL6145C integrates an APC amplifier and an HFM oscillator along with three current channels needed for compliance with the Orange Specification standard for CD-R and CD-R/W write strategy formats.

The company claims that integrating the HFM oscillator helps reduce laser read noise and eliminate the need for an external oscillator-enabled signal. This also minimizes signal routing and component count, thereby lowering costs.

Elantec Semiconductor Inc. and its local distributor Lestina Int. Ltd are at the 7th annual International IC ? China Conference and Exhibition (IIC-China), which opened yesterday, April 8, in Shanghai. IIC-China is organized by eMedia Asia Ltd, a Global Sources and CMP Media joint venture.
