ALi highlights multimedia portfolio at IIC-China

Acer Laboratories Inc. (ALi) is showcasing its full line of multimedia DVD products, systems and peripherals at this year's International IC ? China Conference and Exhibition (IIC-China), which kicked off yesterday in Shanghai.

ALi System Design Products Director Lin Junyu presented a seminar entitled "Increasing bandwidth of North bridge and South bridge interconnection by using HyperTransport technology." The seminar introduced HyperTransport technology and demonstrated its applications in computer chips. Junyu explained that the technology offers several advantages including its ability to increase the computer's internal bandwidth remarkably, effectively improving system performance.

Meanwhile, ALi China General Manager Xiu Junliang opined: "As one of the world's leading chipset suppliers, ALi has continuously conducted R&D to develop and support new technologies. And this time, we have been invited to participate in a leading technological event for the electronics industry of [mainland China], so we will not only show our leading technologies, but also share the results of our [R&D] efforts with industry experts. Through this, we hope to help facilitate development in the global semiconductor market."

ALi was founded in 1987 and has become is one of the world's leading suppliers of ICs. It is also a fabless IC company for PC components and parts technologies. In recent years, ALi has been aggressively expanding its multimedia and consumer electronics product lines. It has launched multimedia controller ICs for MPEG I/II decoding, CD/DVD-ROM systems, DVD players, and scanners. The company is also integrating computer and multimedia technologies in developing wireless integrated communication products, in a bid to penetrate the communications arena.
