Conexant releases single chip USB ADSL modem

The CX82320 USB ADSL modem from Conexant Systems Inc. integrates a USB controller, ADSL discrete multi-tone engine, analog front end, and line driver into a single chip, while providing data rates of up to 8Mb downstream and 1Mbps upstream.

"Our solution not only gives manufacturers the flexibility they need to quickly design products for a growing marketplace, but provides a reduced-cost solution that will bring the expanded functionality required for mainstream adoption," said Chee Kwan, Conexant's VP for Broadband Communications.

Designed for interoperability with existing ADSL networks, the CX82320 is built upon a scalable architecture and is fully compliant with both the full-rate ADSL (T1.413 Issue 2 and G.dmt standards) and splitterless G.lite including Annex A (ADSL over POTS) and Annex B (ADSL over ISDN) standards, with support for USB.

The device is part of the company's AccessRunner product line and is shipped in a 208-pin FPBGA package.

The CX82320 is priced at $22 in OEM quantities of 10,000 units.

Conexant Systems Inc. is an exhibitor at the International IC ? China Conference and Exhibition, which is co-located with the 2nd Embedded Systems Conferences ? China (ESC-China). the shows, which are organized by eMedia Asia Ltd, a Global Sources and CMP Media joint venture, will be staged in Shenzhen on April 15 and 16.
