The ADE7757 electrical metering IC from Analog Devices Inc. features a built crystal oscillator and direct stepper motor drive capability, eliminating the need for an external crystal or resonator, thus reducing the parts count and cost of building a watt-hour meter.

Showcased at the International IC ? China Conference and Exhibition (IIC-China), which will have its closing show in Shenzhen on April 15 and 16, the ADE7757 provides instantaneous and average real power based on line current and voltage. The company claims that is has <0.1 percent linearity error over a dynamic range of 500 to 1.

The chip is shipped in a 16-lead SOIC narrow-body package, and operates from a single 5V supply over temperature range of -40C to 85C.

IIC-China is co-located with the Embedded Systems Conferences ? China. Both events are organized by eMedia Asia Ltd, a Global Sources and CMP Media joint venture.
