TSMC, ATMOS to make embedded memory on 90nm process

Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg Co. Ltd and ATMOS Corp. will jointly develop ATMOS SoC-RAM CMOS embedded memory that will be implemented on TSMC's Nexsys 90nm process technology. The dense CMOS planar bit-cells are expected to enable the integration of up to twice the memory of standard SRAM, while minimizing leakage challenges arising in very deep sub-micron processes.

Under the agreement, TSMC will fabricate an ATMOS SoC-RAM embedded memory test chip. ATMOS, in turn, will deliver front-end views of the fully compiled embedded memory for TSMC's 90nm process within this year. The 90nm SoC-RAM will then join ATMOS' silicon planar macrocell family, which includes compiled memory designed for implementation on TSMC's 0.13?m and 0.18?m processes.
