Specifically targeted for OC-192/STM-64 ultra-long haul, long-haul and metro-fiber systems, Velocium's UCJ106 non-return-to-zero (NRZ) to return-to-zero (RZ) converter runs up to 12.7Gbps while consuming <1W.
Produced using InP technology, the UCJ106 electronically converts NRZ signals to an RZ modulation format for input into a modulator driver. It also provides overhead room for forward error correction algorithms and offers voltage-controlled pulse-width adjustment capability, as well as differential I/O.
"From a system perspective, the UCJ106 also eliminates the need for an additional optical modulator, therefore reducing overall system cost and complexity," said Frank Kropschot, director of business development, Velocium.
The UCJ106 is shipped in either surface mount package or as bare die. |
