Positioned as a replacement for discrete QPSK NIM modules, the MB8A15 single-ship QPSK tuner from Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe integrates a ZIF tuner, QPSK demodulator, and forward error correction circuitry suitable for DVB-S and DSS transmissions.

The chip also incorporates tuning diodes, capacitance, and inductive elements, and internally generates the control signal for the Digital Satellite Equipment Control (DiSEqC) 1.x specification.

Available in a 120-pin LQFP casing, the MB8A15 operates from supply voltages of 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V, and dissipates 1.5W.

An evaluation kit is available that includes the LNB supply and 22kHz modulation circuitry. Application programming interface software in source code is provided by the company free of charge.
