Triton Systems Inc. (TSI), a materials product and process development firm, has spun-off its Extreme Environment Composites group to form Ceracom Inc. The new company will manufacture ceramic and ceramic matrix composites (CMCs).

In a simultaneous move, Ceracom has acquired Israel-based Ceramight Ltd. Under the agreement, Ceracom will obtain Ceramight's patented ceramic-metal composite technology, also called Ceramight, and maintain a base in Yavne, Israel, to be known as Ceracom Materials Israel Ltd (CMI).

Ceracom is planning to move into a 40,000-square-foot facility to increase its manufacturing capabilities. The new facility will be located near Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

TSI Chairman Ross Haghighat stated, "In the near future, this move will result in commercial products such as modules for high temperature fuel cells, as well as defense applications including laser mirrors, rocket nozzles and turbine engine components."
