Linear Tech ADCs suitable for bridge measurements

The LTC2430 and LTC2431 20-bit No Latency Delta Sigma ADCs from Linear Technology provides 15ppm total unadjusted error, as well as differential inputs and reference, allowing for direct connection to strain gauges or weight scales for bridge measurements.

Operating from a single 3V or 5V supply, the devices consume 2005A enabling them to be used in portable or loop-powered applications.

The proprietary No Latency Delta Sigma architecture of the devices is claimed by the company to eliminate the digital filter settling time and make every conversion result valid, even after a full scale input step or input channel change.

The differential reference inputs allow for flexible ratiometric and remote sensing measurement configurations. The ADCs also feature a SPI serial interface and an on-chip oscillator that provides a selectable notch filter of 60Hz or 50Hz.

The LTC2430 is available in a 16-pin SSOP housing and is pin-compatible with the company's 24-bit LTC2410, while the LTC2431 is shipped in a 10-pin MSOP casing that is pin-compatible with the LTC2411.

The LTC2430 and LTC2431 are priced at $4.45 and $4.55, respectively in 1,000 unit quantities.
