The FibreArray 2102 2Gbps end-to-end Fibre Channel Host Independent SAN storage array from Raidtec Corp. is claimed to deliver four times the performance of 1Gb Fibre Channel products, while allowing scalable configurations from single-server SAS to Enterprise SAN.

Backward-compatible with current 1Gbps Fibre Channel devices, the FibreArray 2104 is suitable for use in enterprise applications including corporate database/data mining, online transaction processing, and A/V and graphics editing.

The device integrates a FibreRAID SAN storage controller that offers a data transfer rate of up to 400Mbps. It has a four-channel 2Gb architecture to provide for higher I/O capability and data throughput.

The RAID Off-Load Engine architecture also provides high-speed memory caching, hardware assisted RAID 5 parity generation, and cache coherency. Configuration on disk is included where a backup of the array configuration is stored on disk for added data integrity.

The FibreArray 2104 supports up to 192 of the latest 18GB to 180GB dual-loop Fibre Channel drives at rotational speeds of up to 15,000rpm. It also provides a capacity of 300GB to 34TB per controller. Multiple systems can be striped together to provide SAN capacity to Petabytes.

Raidtec also provides a range of storage management software compatible with FibreArray 2104 including FC Access to provide virtualization at storage system level with secure SAN volume management, LUN masking, LUN sharing, and SAN firewall feature.

The SANfinity manages multiple FibreArray 2104 arrays from a single console, while the SANfinity DSP allows monitoring and alert notification from Enterprise Network Management platforms including Tivoli Netview, HP Openview, Intel LANdesk, CA Unicenter TNG.
