ChipMOS Technologies (Bermuda) Ltd has signed a contract to purchase a complete set of tape carrier package (TCP) assembly and test equipment from Walsin Advanced Electronics Ltd (WAE).

The equipment will be installed in ChipMOS's Tainan, Taiwan, fabrication facility, and is expected to increase its TCP production capacity by 2 million units per month to reach a total output of 14 million units per month next quarter.

"With the recovery of global economic conditions, we are facing strong demand from flat panel display manufacturers for our technical services on TCP products. In order to satisfy the sharply increasing demand from our customers and further enhance our revenue base, it is essential for us to increase our capacity and that is why we decided to purchase this equipment from WAE," said S.J. Cheng, deputy chairman and CEO of ChipMOS/Bermuda.
