MGE UPS Systems' Topaz S4 inverter is a scalable, N+1 dc/ac power system for mission-critical telecom and datacom applications.

The Topaz S4, which meets the NEBS telecom standard, delivers the equivalent of "six nines" reliability (uptime of 99.9999 percent) for use in COs, wireless basestations, and ultracritical servers, MGE UPS said.

The inverter offers parallel synchronous operation in N+1 redundant applications. To avoid any single points of failure, redundant power modules hot-swap quickly in rack-mountable cabinets. Input is -48Vdc. Users may select output voltages and frequency for greater system flexibility.

The units are scalable from 3.5kVA to 21kVA. All modules in the hot-swap receiver cabinet allow for front access and exchange of components without taking the system offline.

Dual independent microcontrollers and an integrated static transfer switch provide three layers of redundancy. A noise filter limits ripple current on the battery and minimizes radiated and conducted EMI.

The Topaz S4 inverter is priced starting at $8,277 for the 3.5kVA system.
