Intersil Corp.'s Endura ISL6557 is a two- to four-phase PWM controller with 5-bit voltage identification for next-generation processors. Combined with the company's HIP660XA series MOSFET drivers, the PWM controller provides an efficient core power solution and application flexibility for loads from 30A to more than 100A, Intersil said.

Differential remote sensing provides voltage control at the processor. The 5-bit dynamic voltage control (25mV steps) enables stepped voltage changes on the fly to avoid current surge to the processor. Precision channel current balance avoids hot spots. Power-on bias level and droop voltage are programmable.

Board layout, reference designs, an evaluation platform and technical support are provided. The ISL6557 is sampling now. The ISL6557CB, in a 24-lead SOIC, sells for $2.05 each in quantities of 1,000.
