Maxim LDO linear regulator measures 2.3-by-2.3-by-0.65mm

The MAX1819 LDO linear regulator from Maxim Integrated Products delivers 500mA load current with a dropout of 133mV, and fits into a 0.5mm-pitch 6-pin UCSP casing that measures 2.3-by-2.3-by-0.65mm.

The device also features an internal PMOS pass transistor that allows 125?A of supply current to remain independent of load ,thereby extending battery life in portable equipment such as PDAs, cellphones, digital cameras, and laptops. Supply current is further reduced to 0.1?A in logic-controlled shutdown.

The regulator offers an active-low, open-drain reset output that indicates short-circuit protection, thermal overload protection, and when the output is out of regulation.

The device operates from a 2.5V to 5.5V supply, and provides preset output voltages of 1.5, 1.8, 2, 2.5, 3.3, and 5V. Outputs can also be adjusted from 1.25V to 5.5V using an external resistive divider.

The MAX1819 is quoted at $1.20 for 1,000 and up quantities. An evaluation kit (MAX1919EVKIT) is also available.
