Silicon Wave Inc., a developer of RF ICs, said it would work with MindTree Consulting on a range of Bluetooth wireless products. MindTree said it would become Silicon Wave's authorized design center in India.

Bangalore-based MindTree, which provides IT consulting services, previously helped develop Bluetooth applications using Silicon Wave's RF technology.

Silicon Wave has developed a wireless LAN and Bluetooth chip set with Intersil Corp., and also develops RF communication system components and software. One reason MindTree had been using Silicon Wave's RF technology is because RF skills are scarce in India.

Under the new pact, MindTree will support Silicon Wave customers developing Bluetooth products that use Silicon Wave components. The products are expected to include wireless headsets, printers, mobile phones, PDAs, digital cameras, set-top boxes and PC peripherals.

S. Janakiraman, president and chief executive of MindTree's technology business, said he expected the agreement with Silicon Wave to advance time-to-market for Bluetooth-enabled products.

MindTree's Bluetooth products include baseband cores and protocol stacks which are supplied to original equipment manufacturers under license. The startup company also offers product services to integrate Bluetooth technology into product designs. It also provides design services to Taiwan's United Microelectronics Corp.
