Adtron integrates two HDDs into 6U CPCI card

Designed for telecom and industrial control systems, the SC6 SCSI mass storage subsystem from Adtron Corp. integrates a SCSI controller, boot BIOS ROM, and two hot-swappable HDDs in RAID mirror configuration into a 6U CPCI plug-in card.

Aside from the redundant HDDs, the module addresses the high availability requirements of telecom networks by providing automatic rebuild and status signaling via the PICMG 2.9 IPMI scheme. An integrated IPMI controller communicates drive status to the baseboard management controller.

The SC6 also has a built-in PCI to SCSI controller that eliminated the need for additional system controller board.

Each HDD provides a capacity of up to 40GB and features a sustained read and write time of 8.14MBps and 7.51MBps, respectively. Both can withstand up to 150G (2ms) of operational shock.

The device operates from 3.3V or 5V supply via PCI interface, drawing 2A during operation and 0.6A during standby. It can be configured for operation through the CPCI bus using the SCSI controller or through the SCSI host via J5 as an ultra-wide LVD or SE SCSI peripheral.
