inSilicon Corp. has announced the availability of is Gigabit Ethernet MAC (GMAC) subsystem, providing the necessary components the user needs in integrating a Gigabit Ethernet port into an SoC.

Built using the company's GMAC IP core technology, the subsystem supports a data rate of 1Gbps and is backward-compatible with Ethernet and Fast Ethernet networks. The subsystem also supports hardware filtering, VLAN, power management, and remote monitoring, as well as jumbo packets and control frames in half- and full-duplex modes.

In addition to the GMAC block, the subsystem includes a FIFO layer and a programmable descriptor-based DMA layer.

The GMAC subsystem can be bridged to any system bus via the VSIA PVCI standard DMA interface and is fully-compliant with the IEEE 802.3x standard.

The product is shipped together with a Verilog RTL source code, Verilog bus functional models, a comprehensive test suite, synthesis scripts, and documentation for integrating the GMAC subsystem into an SoC.
