Raytheon Co.'s RF Components Division has announced the release of the RMPA1956-103 series of 3.5V dual-band, tri-mode power amplifiers for AMPS, CDMA, and CDMA2000-1x applications.

Operating over both cellular and PCS bands, the power amplifier consumes 65mA (12dBm), and provides an output power of 27.2dBm for CDMA and 30.7dBm for AMPS applications.

A member of the company's PowerEdge family, the device features the company's Advanced DC Power Management feature, which maintains the power of the amplifier to a level high enough to sustain signal integrity. This results to increased power efficiency and linearity, as well increased phone talk times.

The amplifier is manufactured using the company's InGaP GaAs HBT process technology, which provides single positive supply operation with power-down capability during the receive mode. The device also features 50-ohm impedance matching and dc-blocked I/O to minimize component count and reduce circuit complexity for the handset designer.

The RMPA1956-103 is shipped in a compact LCC package, measuring 6-by-6-by-1.5mm.
