The LT1789-1 micropower instrumentation amplifier from Linear Technology Corp. has an input offset voltage of 100?V, input offset drift of <0.5mV/C, and a minimum CMRR of 100dB, allowing the device to minimize dc errors and eliminate the need for external trim circuitry.

The device operates from a 2.2V to 36V supply and draws 95?A, making it suitable for portable battery-powered instruments in medical and industrial applications including 4mA to 20mA loop powered systems, process control, strain gauge transducers, and flow meter systems.

"Requiring only a single resistor, it is programmable for any gain from 1 to 1,000. It has been designed as a precision upgrade for existing micropower in-amps and discrete multi op amp solutions," said design manager Bill Jett.

The LT1789-1 is available in an 8-pin SMP housing and operates from -40C to 85C. It is priced at $3.20 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
