Sirenza Microdevices Inc. has announced the release of the SFT-0100 and SFT-5100 fiber-optic transimpedance amplifiers (TIA) for use in 10Gbps/12.5Gbps telecom and 10Gb Ethernet transceiver products.

The SFT-0100 InGaP TIA is designed for gigabit telecom applications and features a transimpedance of >2.2 kiloohms. It has 3dB bandwidth >11.5GHz bandwidth, optical overload of 2.5mA,and an optical sensitivity >-18.5dBm.

The SFT-5100 utilizes SiGe technology and produces a transimpedance of >2.2 kiloohms and 3dB bandwidth >8.5GHz.

"The performance of these TIA products is enhanced through the use of a patent-pending AGC circuit that reduces duty cycle distortion under high photocurrent conditions and allows high transimpedances with low dc power to be realized," stated Kevin Kobayashi, director of advanced design.

Both the InGaP and SiGe TIA products are offered in die form and are now available for sampling. The SFT-5100 is quoted at $9.95 each in quantities of 100,000 units.
