Claimed to be the first device controller and PHY co-verified USB 2.0 solution from Taiwan, the Medusa USB 2.0 device controller SIP from Global UniChip Corp. supports the USB 1.1 and 2.0 specifications and uses a UTMI standard interface.

Via register setting, the four layers structure of the USB specificationconfiguration, interface, alternative setting, and endpointcan be set to allow customers to develop different kinds of applications for different scenarios, and through the use of compiler to complete hardwired circuit to minimize the size of chip area.

Medusa also integrates the synchronization circuit and a buffer manager, as well as a centralized memory management and control to reduce the size of traditional circuit designs. It also includes scanning and testing design that provides 99 percent fault coverage rate to ensure product quality.

The SIP also has a bus functional model and provides a self-diagnosis capability, allowing customers to develop software/firmware and hardware simultaneously.

Medusa follows the Reuse Methodology Manual specification and complies with the testing items listed in Chapter 9 of the USB-IF's USB Compliance Test Suite.
