M/A-COM GaAs pHEMT switches operate at 2.5V

Designed specifically for GSM handsets, M/A-COM Inc.'s line of GaAs pHEMT switches operate at 2.5Vlower than the 3V needed by competing productsand offer improved harmonic performance, lower insertion loss, and lower current consumption.

The MASWSS0020 (single-pole, four throw) offers a harmonic rejection >-70dBc with a control voltage <2.2V, when introduced to a 34dBm, 1GHz signal. It has an insertion loss of 0.55dB at 1GHz and 0.8dB at 2GHz. It also features an isolation of 29dB at 1GHz and 22.5dB at 2GHz.

The device is available in 16-lead FQFP-N packages measuring 4-by-4-by-1mm.

The SW-489 is a single-pole, three throw device that has an insertion loss of 0.45dB (1GHz) and is offered in a 12-lead FQFP-N package measuring 3-by-3-by-1mm. The MASWSS0033 offers the same functionality as the SW-489, but is housed in 3-by-3-by0.8mm package.

The MASWSS0006 (single-pole, double-throw) has an insertion loss of 0.45 dB (1GHz) and is housed in a SOT-26 package.

These devices are available in either packaged and/or die form, to serve both integrated and discrete handset designs.

Also available from the company is the SW-444 single-pole, five-throw device that integrates CMOS drivers and is suitable for triple-band phones. The device features a common antenna port that connects to GSM transmit/receive, DCS/PCS transmit, DCS receive and PCS receive functions.
