AIXTRON conducts LED technology seminar in Beijing

German-based AIXTRON Corp. has recently conducted a LED technology seminar in Beijing, China. There were about a hundred industry experts from China Science Institute Semiconductor Research Institute, Optoelectronics Devices National Engineering Research Center, and Tsinghua University who attended the seminar.

Local companies had begun establishing LED project businesses in accordance with the growing demand of LEDs in China. Experts predict that China's LED industry revenues will reach $3 to $4 billion within the next three years. It is also estimated that PDAs and mobile phone products integrated with OLED displays will emerge within two to three years.

In the last two years, full color LED displays are not only sold in Europe, United States and Japan but also in China and other developing countries. According to statistics, domestic LED displays in 2001 accounted for $600 million in revenues and is forecasted to increase at an estimated 50 percent rate this year.

Tsinghua University holds more than 10 patents and made substantial improvement on the research of OLED materials, device production processes and display driver circuits.
