Macronix to establish IC design houses

Taiwan-based Macronix Int. Co. Ltd, an IC and wafer fab manufacturer, has announced that it will launch a new business model and establish one to three IC design houses in June 2002. The design houses will design logic ICs, digital audio video chips and multimedia devices.

According to Macronix president Miin Wu, they will assist the design houses to set up large-scale manufacturing customers and sales channels during its early stages. The IC design houses will also be integrated and supported by the wafer fab facilities of Macronix.
