Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has announced the development of a CPU for use in digital TVs. Built around an ARM 920T core, the SoC operates at 200MHz and is capable of transmitting data at 100MHz.

The CPU contains peripheral functions required by next-generation digital products including DRAM and Flash memory, data I/O, data transceiver lines, and the MCU.

Digital TVs are claimed to provide images that are up to five times clearer than conventional analog models. Aside from the usual functions, digital TV sets can be used as a medium for data transmission and provide Internet access, as well as e-commerce functions.
