Mobility Electronics Inc., a provider of portable computing solutions, has settled a lawsuit against SBS Technologies on Mobility's Split Bridge technology patents. The terms of the settlement deal includes providing SBS with a license to use Mobility's Split Bridge technology on certain product applications.

The Split Bridge technology allows the extension of a computer's main PCI bus to a remote location. With bi-directional bandwidth of 1.25Gbps, Split Bridge technology is expected to be faster than USB technology and is said to be more fundamental than other connectivity technologies such as Firewire, USB 2.0 and Fibre Channel.

"The settlement is mutually beneficial to our companies and, in the end, will be of the greatest benefit to the customers we both serve," said Dave Greig, president and CEO of SBS Technologies.
