Altra Broadband joins XFP Module Group

Altra Broadband Inc., a subsidiary of Ansoft Corp., has joined the 10Gbps Small Form-factor Pluggable (XFP) Module Group, a module multi source agreement (MSA). The purpose of the group is to develop a common specification for multi-sourcing application-agnostic, ultra-small form factor, 10Gbps modules for the telecommunications, data communications and SAN markets.

Altra is participating in the XFP module group to promote the company's expertise in digital communications and application of Ansoft products for 10Gbps PCB designs. In turn, the XFP group will utilize Altra's channel model for the electrical interconnect between the transceiver ASIC and XFP module.

The XFP Group is composed of networking, system, optical module, semiconductor, and connector companies from the telecommunications, data communications and SAN markets.
