NVIDIA Corp. has launched an AGP riser card technology initiative called the Digital Display Port (DDP).

NVIDIA's DDP specification, using a low cost add in AGP card, allows OEMs, system builders, and motherboard manufacturers to offer end users an inexpensive way to connect digital displays to PCs designed with an NVIDIA integrated graphics solution and an AGP expansion port.

"PCs utilizing integrated graphics solutions such as NVIDIA's nForce Platform Processors include an AGP port that often goes unused," said Dan Vivoli, VP of marketing at NVIDIA. "By multiplexing the DVI signal on the AGP bus, DDP provides a low-cost alternative that allows end users to upgrade to the latest in digital display technology without having to compromise the graphics already integrated directly onto the motherboard," Vivolo explained.
