Sewon selects Motorola i.250 platform

South Korea OEM Sewon Telecom has adopted the Innovative Convergence i.250 platform from Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector (SPS) to develop 2.5G GSM/GPRS cellular phones, which Sewon will distribute worldwide.

The i.250 platform is a silicon-to-software solution that covers voice-centric, voice-data and data-centric products and enables migration to the Innovative Convergence i.300 3G GSM/UMTS platform.

In addition, i.250 also integrates functions that are typically separate. According to Sewon, this will result in up to 50 percent lower parts count than many competing solutions, enabling reduced system costs and cutting deployment time by up to a year.
