Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. has previewed an SoC architecture that integrates terrestrial demodulators, MPEG-2 A/V, and a high-speed processor to allow developers to reduce time-to-market of terrestrial digital television (DTV) consumer products.
The DTV architecture is targeted for the European market and for countries that have adopted the digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) standard defined by ETSI.
The scalable architecture aims to provide a high-level of integration to permit SFF-sized equipment to be manufactured. It also aims to lower power consumption to <1.5W, conforming to the requirements of the European Code of Conduct on Energy Efficiency.
The architecture also aims to support standard OS and middle-ware technology, while delivering a processor that can support DVD playback/recording and Internet connectivity. |
