The BCM7110 CATV STB SoC from Broadcom Corp. provides a DOCSIS 1.1 cable modem that enables advanced interactive TV functionality, and a dual tuner architecture that allows simultaneous viewing of Internet and video, or two independent program streams.

The SoC also incorporates personal video recording (PVR) functionality, a MIPS processor, an advanced 2D/3D graphics engine, and provides support for DAVIC and other protocols, making the chip suitable for use in both North American and international markets.

Home networking is also enabled through Ethernet, 802.11b, and HomePNA-over-Coax. Also provided are a USB and IEEE 1394 interfaces, an OpenCable-compliant Point of Deployment interface, V.90 soft modem support, and an ID controller for connection to disk drives.

The BCM7110 gateway box can also be combined with the company's BCM1101 IP phone chip for VoIP voice line service.

The BCM7110 is priced at $75 in quantities of 10,000. The company is also offering the BCM97110 reference design for developers.
