The miniature high-pressure xenon (HPX) halogen lamps from Welch Allyn Inc. are claimed to burn whiter and last three times longer than standard incandescent lamps. The 4mm(x) devices are suitable for integration into spectral analysis instruments and miniature video inspection systems, as well as for use as indicator lights and miniature fiber illumination.

Positioned to replace white LEDs, the HPX lamps operate from a 2.7V to 3.5V source and consume 1.54W to 2.59W. They are available in wedge, center, and two-pin base types.
