The MAX3341E USB level translator from Maxim Integrated Products converts logic-level signals to USB signals and vice-versa, and provides a built-in 115kV ESD protection on the USB I/O pins, as well as the D+ and D- data lines.

Designed for mobile devices, the chip operates with logic supply voltages down to 1.8V to ensure compatibility with ASIC and PLDs. It is powered by the USB host and draws 505A during suspend mode.

This MAX3341E internally generates a 3.3V supply for USB signaling, and provides 15mA to power external devices. It also features a USB detect output to signal the microprocessor that a USB host has been connected.

Shipped in 4-by-4 UCSP or 16-pin TSSOP casing, the IC supports USB 1.1 and 2.0 full-speed operation (12Mbps) and features an internal 1.5 kilohms pullup resistor to select the mode of operation. It also features an enumerate function to allow reallocation of USB bandwidth without cycling power.

Prices start at 66 cents for quantities of 25,000 units and up.
