The FHW500R 500W dc/dc converter from Tyco Electronics Power Systems operates from an input range of 36Vdc to 75Vdc and can be used in powering wireless basestations, as well as high current 24Vdc to 28Vdc applications.

Shipped in an industry-standard full brick package, the converter uses advanced synchronous rectification technology to achieve efficiency levels of up to 91 percent at 28V, 18A full load. A parallel pin feature enables multiple FHW500R converters to be used in parallel to achieve higher current levels.

The device is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -400C to 1000C and features a metal board construction that allows cold wall assembly and the addition of heatsinks.

The converter has an estimated MTBF of 1 million hours and incorporates protection against high current, voltage, or temperature levels. It also offers output noise and ripple filtering and monotonic start-up.

The FHW500R is priced at $173.35 in 10,000-unit quantities.
